We prepare the yacht in pastel colours, or in neutral tones until the reveal, with balloons, flowers and table decoration. For the reveal itself, choose a balloon box, confetti or a cake with a coloured centre, and we keep the secret if only the baker knows the answer. Planning a gender reveal or baby shower on a yacht

Choose a reveal that works on the water

The wind on the Bosphorus is stronger than in a garden, so think about how each option behaves on deck. A cake with a coloured centre is calm and easy to film. A balloon box makes a striking photo, but open it on the open deck where the balloons can rise freely. Loose confetti can blow overboard quickly, so keep it close to the group and expect it to be a short, lively moment.

Keeping the secret

• Ask your doctor to write the result in a sealed envelope and give it straight to the baker or the one friend who prepares the reveal.
• Decide whether you, the parents to be, want to know first or find out with everyone.
• Keep the decoration neutral until the reveal, then let colour take over for the rest of the evening.

Comfort for the mother to be

Pick a time of day that suits her energy rather than the guest list. Arrange a comfortable seat with a good view of the reveal and keep water and mocktails within easy reach. If she is in the later months, a shorter walk to the boarding point and a calm sea state matter more than the exact landmark, so stay flexible on timing.

Capturing the moment

Ask two people to film from different angles, one on the parents' faces and one on the reveal itself. Daylight shows pink or blue most clearly, so a late afternoon or sunset cruise is a good choice if the colours matter in the photos. Baby shower ideas

Simple games work well on board: guess the birth date and weight, baby photos of the guests, or advice cards for the new parents that you keep for later. Every cruise starts with a welcome drink and light snacks. Choose a dinner, a buffet or finger food, prepared on board by our chef for groups of 10 or more, with soft drinks and mocktails for the mother to be. You can also bring your own food and drinks, with a service fee of €10 per person.
