Sogukcesme Street

Sogukcesme Street is the street where historical istanbul houses are located in Sultanahmet, at the end of Bab-i Humayun. The street between Hagia Sophia Museum and Topkapı Palace is closed to traffic. Its name is III. It was bought from a 1800 Turkish marble fountain from the Selim period.

The street that smells of history, has 10 houses with all the features of Old istanbul. These houses, where the palace staff once accommodated, have been restored to the present day. Until the beginning of the 20th century, such houses were located not only in Sogukcesme Street, but also in the square behind Hagia Sophia and even in front of it. Due to the increasing traffic at the beginning of the 20th century, the houses in the square had serious destructions and these houses were destroyed. But Sogukcesme Street has not been affected by this traffic and has been preserved to this day.

Another important building on Sogukcesme Street is the istanbul Library. The library, which is full of writers from different countries of the world about istanbul, has been serving since 1986. Ottoman houses also opened their doors to important guests. She had stayed in one of the houses of the Queen of Spain Sophia in Sogukcesme Street. Sogukcesme Street, which is one of the historical places of istanbul, still maintains its existence as the elite face of Ottoman civilization.
