Little Hagia Sophia Mosque Informations
Small Hagia Sophia Mosque, also known as St. Sergios and Bakhos Church, was converted into a mosque after the conquest of Constantinople in 1453.
This building, which was built during the Emperor Iustiniaanos and Empress Theodora period, is one of the most architecturally impressive buildings in the city. The interior of the mosque consists of octagonal columns and 16 arches.
In a relief in the small Hagia Sophia Mosque, the founders of the church, Aziz Sergios and Aziz Bakkhos, are mentioned. According to a belief, these two saints entered the dream of Emperor I. Iustiniaanos and rescued him from a plot.
