Dolmabahçe Palace
Dolmabahçe Palace, located between Kabataş-Beşiktaş and established in the most beautiful place of the Bosphorus, is among the most visited places in istanbul, just like Topkapı Palace. With its magnificent architectural structure and exhibition halls on the Bosphorus, it is one of the popular places that you must visit in istanbul. The construction of Dolmabahçe Palace, built on an area of 110,000 square meters and built by Sultan Abdülmecid (1839-1861), started on 13 June 1843 and was opened for use on 7 June 1856.
Dolmabahçe Palace became Atatürk’s Presidential Residence with the proclamation of the Republic. It is of great importance for the Turkish nation in terms of its construction during the Ottoman period, the Presidential Residence and the place where Atatürk closed his eyes on November 10, 1938.
It is possible to see Far East, European and Turkish works within the palace. There are fireplaces, candlesticks and chandeliers all around the palace. The ballroom features a magnificent crystal chandelier 36 meters high and 4.5 tons in weight.
